Hills History — The Gollasch Family of Pleasant Hills

This month, I have begun researching the local residents who lie at rest in the Pleasant Hills Lutheran Cemetery.

Mathew Gollasch (1859–1896)

Mathew was born on October 24th, 1859, and passed away on February 18th, 1896. Records show he purchased 320 acres in the Osborne-Brookong area. Interestingly, newspaper reports from June 1896 discuss his land holdings months after his headstone indicates he had passed away.

Legal notices from the Supreme Court of New South Wales in March 1896 list him as "late of French Park near The Rock" and indicate that administration of his estate was granted to his brother, Frederich Gollasch. While I haven't found a funeral notice, death records list his parents as Frederick and Mary Gollasch.
