Through a friend, we were asked to take our coffee van to Louth for the annual races. It was a 130km trip from Cobar into the outback. We saw crops, goats, and eventually dorper sheep as we approached the race ground.
The town of Louth uses the races to raise money for charity, featuring events like outback golf and campfire cooking. Unfortunately, race day was impacted by rain, but the community spirit remained high. Louth has a rich history, established in 1859 for the river trade and Cobb & Co coaches.
