Pleasant Hills Mail: 10 inches of rain
Mr L Klemke, the Pleasant Hills mailman came into town on Monday after a rough trip along the road. To get to Lockhart at all he had to vary his route a little. He was all prepared for the outward trip, had the bread parcels aboard but the train from The Rock had been cancelled and no mails to take, he deemed it advisable to wait until Tuesday morning. The continuous rain also helped him decide to stay in Lockhart. The fall of rain about Pleasant Hills totalled 6 inches up to Monday morning and there has been another 4 inches since. The mailman, with considerable courage, undertook the outward trip from Lockhart on Tuesday morning.
