Pleasant Hills CWA

Our monthly meeting was a very busy meeting, which was held in Henty, where we were delighted to welcome new members and visitors, making it our biggest attendance at a meeting for several years.

We had a number of presentations for some very surprised members. Margaret Hasler was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for her many years of service to the Country Women’s Association, in particular, our Pleasant Hills Branch. Among other things, she is our chief jam spreader at Street Stalls.

Heather Barrett and Heather Edwards, both former Henty Evening members were presented with their CWA Fifty Year Membership badges and certificates, whilst Nett Maloney accepted a Scholarship Certificate from Phillip Group for her grandson, Flynn who had been awarded $350 towards school expenses.

We had Guest Speakers Stephanie and Sharon from Bendigo Bank in Henty come and give us a very informative talk on Scams, something that we all need to be aware of.

In view of the recent bushfires in Victoria and the floods in Queensland, members decided to donate $500 to both Blazeaid and the CWA of NSW Disaster Relief Fund.

Care South is the Riverina Group Project this year - it is a Not-for-Profit Organisation operating out of Wagga Wagga, and we had a Guest Speaker talk to Group Council explaining their needs.

Items were finalised for the Group Handicraft and Land Cookery Day which is being held on Saturday.

The Group International day will be held at Galore on Monday, 31st March.

An order for some items we need from Head Office was sorted for delivery at State Conference in Wagga in May.

We are holding another Bunnings Cake & Scone Stall on Friday 4th April, so if anyone is able to help with goods to sell etc it would be appreciated.

Our next meeting will be held at the Commercial Club in Albury on Wednesday, 9th April, commencing at 10.30am.

As a footnote, our Branch did very well at the Riverina Group Handicraft & Land Cookery Day, which was held at Collingullie on a very hot day.
