A Farming Yarn
There was a young lady called Mary Who worked at the Robinson’s dairy. While milking the cows, she knitted her brows And her face was really quite scary.
In strolled the milk man named Pat It was his turn to empty the vat. He saw Mary’s face and tripped over the race He’d never seen eyebrows like that.
He called out to old farmer Bob Who was outside doing a job. While running inside he ripped his good strides Then promptly fell over the dog.
The farmhand, a young man called Jack, Was out forking the nearby haystack. While swatting the flies he ran for the cries But slipped in manure out the back.
The arrival of good neighbour Jean Saw her wildly surveying the scene. "I’ll go and get help" she said with a yelp "It’s more mayhem than I’ve ever seen!"
It was up to the farmer’s wife Bess To take charge and sort out the mess. She patched them all up, gave them rum in a cup And said "My work here is done, nonetheless."
