Music to my Ears

I like to play my music loud when I am on my own, Some people store the latest songs and listen on their phone. They buy their tunes on Spotify, it’s the trendy thing to do, And I remember the compact disc when it was still brand new.

Browsing in a record store was such a special thing, You’d grab the latest new release and peruse the bargain bin. Such a range of genres that appeal to young and old, Rows and rows of vinyl treasures waiting to be sold.

A single was on forty-five, and albums were long play, The classics were on seventy-eight back in our parent’s day. Depending on the RPM was how long the songs would last, And when you played your favourite tune you’d turn it up full blast!

But everything old is new again and now they’re back in style, The mighty stereo played them all as well as cassette and CD. And whether its classical, folk or jazz, the blues or country rock, The strain of a familiar chorus is always music to my ears.
