We held our monthly meeting at the Commercial Club. We had invitations to Euberta’s 50th birthday, The Rock’s International Day and Wagga Wagga’s 100th birthday, which is coming up on 30th August.

Since our next meeting is our International Meeting at Pleasant Hills, and we are studying the country of France, we discussed French recipes suitable for our International Day luncheon at the School at Pleasant Hills on Wednesday, 14th August. We will have a guest speaker and members of the public are welcome to join us at about 12:45pm for our luncheon and afternoon.

After receiving the cheque for $1000 that we sent to the “Love Your Sister” organisation, we were so thrilled when Samuel Johnson himself rang Lyn to thank her for the donation from our small CWA Branch, and then made a video and emailed through to thank everyone personally, and also asked us for photos of our efforts for their social media!

The Group’s Cultural Day was held on the 29th July and we had four members attending and some of us were involved with a funny skit in which we received a High Commendation for our act. Lyn helped to co-ordinate the day.

Our Land Cookery results were: Chocolate cake, 1st Lyn Lieschke, 2nd Lyn Jacobsen; Peppermint slice was won by Lyn Lieschke. Next month, we will have the Children’s Cooking. For the Seniors, we will have a plain butter cake, cooked in a 20cm round or square tin.

As stated earlier in this report, our next meeting will be at Pleasant Hills, Wednesday 14th August, commencing at 10am – please note the earlier than normal time so we can get the lunch organised as well.
