Pleasant Hills Police station was established on April 14th 1919, as part of the Murray Police District, with headquarters at Albury. The original strength of the station was one foot constable. In 1921 it came under the Riverina Police district still with headquarters in Albury. The station at Pleasant Hills closed during 1940 due to staff shortages. Premises for Police purposes were rented in both Edgehill and Ryan streets. The first Policeman was Constable Arentz, followed by Gregor, Donohue, McLean, Whitney, More and Teague.

The following letters detail the closing of the Police station in 1941:

Superintendents’ Office, Albury, 18/3/41. The Officer in Charge of Police, Henty. Subject: The temporary closing of Pleasant Hills Police Station on 5th June 1940. The Police Station at Pleasant Hills was closed on the 5th July, 1940 for a period of six months. As the temporary closing of the Police Station has lapsed, a report is required as to the present position in regards to affairs there, and whether it is considered the Station might now be permanently closed. (Signed) GH Armstrong. Supt. 2/S

Henty, 26/3/41. I beg to report that during the last six months Pleasant Hills has gone back considerably. Over 30 persons have left and there are five unoccupied houses in the town. The Public School has an enrolment of 21, attending from a radius of 4 miles, and the total population of the town is 52. During the period the station has been temporarily closed, no complaints have been received from the town or district of any inconvenience being caused by the temporary closing. On the 25th instant I visited Pleasant Hills and interviewed a number of residents, including Mr S Klemke, JP Storekeeper, Mr FRL Gale, Post Master, Mr Smyth School Teacher, and a number of farmers, all were unanimously of the opinion that the town would continue to go back, and the district was so quiet at the present time that a Police station was unnecessary. Under the present circumstances I consider the Police Station at Pleasant Hills could be permanently closed.
