Means of transport for travelling matches was mainly by truck. Players paid 6d. (pence) travel fee, and the bus was paid 2 pounds per trip. The Hockey Club held several dances during the year, and a windup ball. The uniform colours were changed several times from black material with gold braid, to black skirt with a white sash. Pleasant Hills Cricket Club
The records show that the Pleasant Hills Cricket Club in 1910 sought permission from the education department to play cricket on a portion of the school reserve. Little is known of the early days but in later years a Sunday competition including – Milbrulong, Henty, Yerong Creek, The Rock, Culcairn, and Walla Sub.
Cricket played by Pleasant Hills was mainly in Sunday’s competition. Names that played for the club include the Browne’s, Gale’s, Knobel’s, Klemke’s, Pumpa’s, Grunow, Robertson, Armstrong, McDonald, Harris, Dorman, and Zeibell. The club met with limited success. Again, parties of supporters would travel with the team for several of the away matches, these created a lot of fun for all, and kept the community in touch with cricket in their district.
Social cricket was played once or twice a year, in the early 1990’s, on the recreation reserve. However, the erection of a modern cricket practice facility at the Pleasant Hills School in 1990 was hoped to be the impetus for the development of future cricketers.
