Standing alone on the peak,
Birds and clouds my true friends.
Casting an eye on a land to behold,
The scene scanned so easy to endure.
From the turquoise sky above snow white mountains,
To the sparkling flash of ocean blue.
It’s twisting rivers and valleys green,
Hills clad in Messmate, Ash, and Brown Barrel,
My heart sings its praise to the life in this land.
My mind cloaked in peace with these tranquil surrounds.
I thank God as I gaze upon this jewel,
Tasting the fragrance of the thin cool air.
Alone, yet feeling at one with this world,
So close to the barren rocks ‘neath my feet,
And the wind as it gently sends out its tendrils,
To playfully caress my body like feathers.
I can feel the warmth from the shimmering fields,
I can taste the clear cool of swift flowing streams,
I can smell the perfume of the forested glades,
And I can doze to the melodies of the balladeers in flight.
Here, within easy reach, lies a world at peace,
Where life ebbs like a slow-moving current,
Of a gently meandering river through plains of gold.
A deep sigh and a widening smile as this vista touches my very soul.
