The Riverina Zone reminds residents within Coolamon, Lockhart, Junee, and Wagga Wagga that fire permits are available.
Permit Types
- Continuous Monitoring: Issued for up to 21 days. Sufficient people must remain onsite until the fire is fully extinguished.
- Temporary Monitoring: Issued for up to 7 days. Fires may only be lit if the Fire Danger Rating is forecast to be MODERATE or lower for the following 48 hours.
Key Conditions
- No burning before 2:00pm.
- Two private fire units must be in attendance with at least 1,000 litres of water.
- 3-metre bare earth fire breaks are required.
- No pile burns, heavy timber, or stumps are to be burnt.
Breaches of the NSW Rural Fires Act 1997 can result in substantial fines and prison terms.
