Our CWA has had a rather busy month, especially the week of the meeting with 3 separate CWA Functions on! We held our meeting at the Pleasant Hills Primary School library before our International Meeting with the students.

The students had been very busy and done lots of cooking, which was lovely to see, as well as preparing their entry for the International School Competition. Our recent Bunnings Stall was very successful, and we’re giving the Albury Cancer Hospital a cheque for $500.

At our meeting, we discussed the Henty Field Days catering, as we are needing sandwiches and slices, as well as workers at the event. Lyn has made Fruit cakes and her friend Kate Aldridge is decorating them, and one of these will be raffled each day during the Field Days – one for Mental Health, one for the Leukaemia Foundation and one for Country Hope.

CWA is going to raise funds for the Gidget Foundation Australia from October to December, so we are hoping to do some fundraising during that time for them.

International Meeting

For our International Meeting, we featured an Australian style lunch, so party pies, homemade sausage rolls, cocktail frankfurts in mini bread rolls as well as lots of other tasty delights, which both the students and adults enjoyed. We had a big lamington in the shape of Australia plus Australian flags around, and the meal was served on green and gold tablecloths, giving it an “Aussie theme”.

Our Guests were the State International Officer, Mrs Jenny Chobdzynski and the Riverina Group International Officer, Ms Nicole McHenry, and after lunch we went into the classroom where the older students gave us their prepared presentation telling us a little about living at their place. Their presentation will now go on to be judged in the Riverina Group competition.

Land Cookery Competition

The students had been very busy doing some baking for the two junior sections in The Land Cookery Competition, with the five students all winning prizes, and all were given a book each! It was wonderful to see so much cooking and next year, we will consider doing a cookery competition just for them.

Winners overall in the Land Cookery were:

Next meeting the competition is for Whole Orange cake, any recipe, and 6 Remembrance Biscuits.
