Now that Spring is finally here,
The colours of nature are especially clear.
Days are indeed brighter, that much is true,
When bathed in a vista of magnificent blue.
The yellow of wattle frames the canola of gold,
A valuable carpet to be harvested and sold.
The soil underneath is a rich brownish red,
And straw-coloured hay helps the horses get fed.
Fat cattle graze greedily on pastures of green,
Wearing shiny black coats with a glorious sheen.
They forage all day until dusk becomes nigh,
Then drink from dams under a burnt orange sky.
Ewes busy lambing with their wool a soft grey
Some guarded by alpacas keeping foxes at bay.
Bushy tailed bantams with fine silvery plumes
Their flamboyant feathers quite the perfect costume.
Bare trees burst forth with buds pale pink and white
Their pastel formations a gardener’s delight.
The lavender bush blooms its bright purple hue
And citrus bear lemons tasting vibrant and new.
So whatever the chroma the season is here
A new revolution of our kaleidoscope sphere.
Birdlife is most radiant, and long may they sing,
To celebrate the beauty of the colours of Spring.
