We had our June meeting at the Commercial Club in Albury.

We are holding a function in Albury at the Albury CWA Rooms in Kiewa St, with a guest speaker from Aged Care speaking to guests about what services are available to people in the older age bracket. This will be held on July 26th starting at 11am, followed by a light luncheon. Admission will be $5.00 each, with all profits going to Foodshare. Anyone wishing to go can book in with Nett Maloney on 0421983244 or Lyn Jacobsen on 0428690222.

The outcomes of the recent Group Council meeting were discussed. We had another Bunning’s Street Stall this month and once again, it was very popular and profitable, so thank you to all our cooks. It’s interesting to watch people’s faces when they ask if we have eftpos and we say “yes”.

We also were saddened to hear of the passing of a former member, Mrs Val Grunow, aged 98. She had been a valued member in the past as well as a former Branch President. We catered for her wake the day after our street stall, with hot soup, sausage rolls and party pies as well as plenty of sandwiches and slices etc, so a big thank you to all.

An invitation has been received from Gerogery Branch to attend their 80th Birthday Luncheon on Thursday, 10th August at the Gerogery Hall, with special guest, State President, Mrs Joy Beames. We will need numbers at next meeting.

The new Land Cookery Schedule is in the June CWA Journal. This month we started our Land Cookery for the year 2023-24 with a Sultana Cake and a Chocolate cake. Results:

Great competition between grandmother and granddaughter! Next month we are having the Plain Butter Cake and the Ginger Fluff Sponge.

Our next meeting will be held on July 14th at the Commercial Club in Albury at 10.30am. Everyone welcome!
