We had a large number of members present at our April Meeting held at the Commercial Club in Albury. Three members—Nett Maloney, Kay Dean, and Margaret Hasler—are attending the State Conference in Bathurst. Our cooks will be representing Riverina Group with their prize-winning cakes and jams.
My OAM Investiture!
On the 18th April, I was presented with my Order of Australia Medal by the NSW Governor, Mrs Margaret Beazley, at Government House in Sydney. It was a truly memorable and very special occasion. Thank you to everyone who contributed to writing the citation for this award.
Hemp Facts
Our Ag and Environment Officer, Wendy Crosby, gave a talk on our Primary Product for this year: Hemp. Hemp is a renewable resource that can produce over 50,000 commercial products. It requires half the water of cotton and produces more paper and oxygen per acre than forests. Wood made from its stems is 20% stronger than oak.
