We were desperate for rainfall and now it has been, Already some paddocks have a slight tinge of green. The sky wears bright blue and it brings out the sun, A signal that there is much work to be done.

There’s weeds to pull out and rough lawns to mow, Vege plots to inspect and seeds we must sow. There are bushes to trim and dead leaves to rake, And tomatoes to be checked that are tied on a stake.

Lots of paths to be swept and cobwebs to brush, A hot sticky job it’s best not to rush. You don’t want to disturb the wasps in their nest, Their many clay homes create such a mess.

Kookaburras sit patiently above the front yard, Waiting for lizards to let down their guard. The dust has just settled, but they laugh not in vain, At the cycle of life that comes after the rain.
