Our first meeting for the year was held in Albury. On the first Friday in February, we took advantage of the very cool day and held another very successful Scone, Muffin & Biscuit Stall at Bunnings, this time the profits going to Avondale Place in Henty. The Square Reader has proved invaluable at Stalls, as many people no longer carry cash. My thanks to our helpers at these stalls as it’s only possible to have them when the weather is cooler, so there is often very short notice.

Several members attended the Avondale Place Open Day on Sunday 5th February, and all were very impressed. We are looking into buying some outdoor furniture for the complex.

We entered the CWA Exhibit at the Henty Show and were thrilled when our entry received 1st Prize.

The purchasing of a Portable ECG Machine for the Albury Base Hospital that was a joint project between the Albury & Thurgoona Lions Clubs and the CWA has arrived, and the staff were very appreciative of the new machine, valued at $7,500. We were proud to have contributed towards this machine.

We have ordered some books on this year’s Primary Product, Hemp. We are going to enquire about doing a tour of Albury’s Re-cycling Plant, which we’ve been told is an interesting tour.

Some discussion took place on what we would do for our International Day at Pleasant Hills, since the State aren’t changing the Country of Study until 1st October, so we’ve decided we will base our day on Australia.

Riverina Group is holding a day to learn more about cooking in Wagga on the 6th March and three members hope to attend. Our Combined Handicraft and Land Cookery Day is to be held on 11th March at Collingullie, and members are asked to bring any handicrafts they have to our next meeting.

Lyn Jacobsen was presented with a beautiful dried flower arrangement at the meeting in acknowledgement of her Order of Australia status, which she thanked the Branch for.
