The arrival of Winter has hit with a blast Our magnificent Autumn was not meant to last While the gold and pink sunsets are a sight to behold The days have turned chilly, and the nights are plain cold.

Some mornings are foggy and covered in dew The dampness relentlessly creeping right through Winds become icy and much more intense Sheep huddle together and commune at the fence.

The showers keep coming, the landscape turns green Dams are all filling and are looking quite clean They start to flow over, and the paddocks become wet There’s always some maintenance and machinery to check.

Many birds will head north, some have already gone Seeking warm places where the sun lingers on Currawongs the exception, they always appear They seem to know when cold weather is near.

Rambunctious roosters crow more quietly and less Stock pens and cattle yards are a muddied great mess Horses shiver while grazing, some wearing a rug There’s hay to be thrown and some drains to be dug.

The silos will empty and there’s trucks on the road Many hopes will rest on the stock and crops sowed With much anticipation of what they might bring Time to pause, reflect, and get ready for Spring.
