In May 1937, the Pleasant Hills community was buzzing with activity. The re-erection of the bakery was in rapid progress, contracted to Mr J. Barrie of Henty.

A housewarming party was held at “Mascot,” the new home of Mr and Mrs F. Grunow. Many friends gathered for games, dancing, and a tasty supper. Mr Lindsay Anderson congratulated the couple on their fine new home.

The community also bid farewell to Mr Arthur Pumpa, who left for Sydney to attend wireless school. Arthur was the founder of the St John’s Lutheran Church choir and a keen participant in public affairs. He was presented with a gift by the choir following a service.

Other news included the 70th birthday of Mrs C.A. Lindner senr., and the return of Mr C. Grunow from a long trip to the north of NSW.
