We had a busy start to June with the Riverina Group’s 100-year Celebration Luncheon in Wagga Wagga. Superintendent Karen Hodges AFSM, fire control officer of the Hawkesbury area, was the guest speaker. She spoke about the challenges she overcame as the first female in her various positions and shared insights into fighting the Gospers Mountain Fire.
We also catered for Ron Hasler’s funeral wake on a cold and wet day, and we thank everyone who helped. Our June meeting was held in Albury, where we discussed outcomes from the recent Group Council Meeting. Several members attended an Angel Flight presentation hosted by the Albury Branch.
Our August Meeting will be our International Meeting, held at Pleasant Hills School, where we will study Latvia. If anyone knows a guest speaker with experience in Latvia, please contact Lyn on 0428690222. The Group Cultural Day is scheduled for August 29th in Wagga Wagga.
