We had a good attendance at our monthly meeting which was held in Henty. Some time was spent sorting out our entries for the Group Land Cookery and Handicraft Day. Since CWA is celebrating its Centenary this year, we have ordered some copies of the Centenary Book, plus various other special items. The Group are presenting a CWA Centenary Commemorative Park Bench to Wagga Wagga on Sunday, 3rd April, and it will be placed at the Tourist Information Centre.
We will be selling home-made hot cross buns to raise money for the Flood Appeal, so anyone wanting to purchase any, please contact Lyn on 0428690222. More lamingtons have been made, with the money raised by them being sent on to the Flood Appeal. The Trivia questions organised by our secretary Nett, gave an interesting addition to our meeting. Preparations were also made for our Bunnings BBQ being held in Albury on Saturday, 9th April.
After enjoying lunch together, several members visited the “Cellar Museum” under Dales Supermarket, which was great, taking us back to bygone days, and enjoying many memories.
The Group Handicraft and Land Cookery Day was held at Galore on Saturday, 19th March, where our Branch did very well. In the Cooking, Oura Branch came first, Pleasant Hills were second with Wagga Wagga Evening third, so not bad for our small Branch. There were some lovely articles in the Handicrafts, with Eunice McRae getting second place in the Over 80 section. Special mention must be made of our 13-year-old junior member, Natalie Hasler who won first prize in the Junior Handicrafts in her age group, with her Diamond Dot artwork as well as first prize in the Land Cookery junior section with her Orange Cake. Well done, Natalie!
Instead of a guest speaker at the next meeting, we will be going through the agenda for State Conference so that our delegates have an idea on which way our members think. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 6th April at 10.30am at the Commercial Club in Albury.
