There was a break in the “Storm Lotto” long enough for the sun to shine and for Pleasant Hills Tennis Club to host the Lockhart Shire’s Australia day celebrations.
The tennis club did a fantastic job setting up, cooking breakfast, providing refreshments and generally hosting a fantastic day. There seemed to be a very good crowd from all over the shire. All the chairs were taken up during the formalities.
This year’s Australia Day Ambassador was Ms Ange Clark who spoke about inclusion for all abilities in our everyday and into the future. Our new Shire Mayor, Cr Greg Verdon was in attendance to present the awards:
- Sportsperson of the year: Noah Vennell
- Young Citizen of the year: Kiara Reed
- Australia Day Awards: Mrs Lynette Hamson and Mrs Rosslyn Nimmo
- Citizen of the year for Lockhart Shire: Mrs Lynette Hamson
Congratulations go out to the Tennis club on the success of presenting Pleasant Hills to the shire.
