We held our June meeting in Henty at the B & B, enjoying watching the open fire burning on a cold day.

Five of us joined the Riverina Group Ag & Environment Bus trip at Narrandera, going on to Whitton to the Cotton Gin, where former local girl, Abby Pumpa was our Tour Guide! We all enjoyed hearing about cotton before going on to the Malt House for lunch, then an organic rice farm to learn a little about that industry.

Our Bunnings BBQ was a huge success - we were absolutely flat out all day, this being the busiest BBQ we’ve ever had - maybe COVID made people extra hungry! Thanks to all who helped us on this very busy day.

Lyn J is looking into photos to send for the History Book being prepared for the CWA 100th Year. Marie is hoping to attend the Group International learning day at Wagga Library on July 12th. We had a Guest Speaker, Gail Wheeler (Margaret Hasler’s sister), who spoke on her several experiences nursing on a Merci Ship overseas.

A full carload of roses grown from cuttings was taken to Corryong where they were to be given to people who had lost their homes and gardens in the bushfires. We also gave them a sizeable donation towards their new FoodShare building.

Members were thrilled to hear of Alison Kincaid receiving an Order of Australia Medal in the Queen’s Birthday list. She has worked tirelessly for the clients after starting Albury’s first sexual health clinic in 1996. Her mum, Jessie was a life member of Pleasant Hills CWA.

Our next meeting will be held on July 14th at St James’ Church Hall, Urana Rd, Albury at 10.00am. Ms Penny Vine will be our Guest Speaker.
