We held our May Meeting in Albury at the Commercial Club. The Border Mail had published a photo of our 85th Birthday celebrations, and also a photo of two or our Junior Members, the Hasler girls with their Diamond Art which won prizes for both girls at State Level – Natalie winning 2nd place in the 12 years and Under Section and Louise getting a Junior Achievement Award in the 18 years and Under Section. Also included in the photo was proud grandmother, Margaret Hasler who was at Bega to see the girl’s awards.

The bags, made by the Pleasant Hills Patchwork Group, were filled with goodies, and delivered to Betty’s Place in time for Mother’s Day, to be given to either homeless ladies or domestic violence victims.

A carload of us are planning on joining the Group’s Ag & Environment Bus trip visiting a Cotton Gin and Malt House at Whitton etc at the end of May.

The new Country of Study is Malaysia, and we are looking forward to learning about this country. Queen Azizah from Malaysia spoke via video link to the State Conference. Narelle, Bev Frohling and Lyn Jacobsen were fortunate enough to get their photo taken with this lady in 2019, when she attended the ACWW World Conference in Melbourne, and we spent a day there.

The Group Library Day in Wagga to learn a little about Malaya will be held on July 12th, with the International Day being at Galore on 23rd August.

We are doing a Bunnings BBQ on Saturday, 5th June in Albury. If anyone is able to help us for a couple of hours on the day, we would really appreciate it, as the BBQs are busier since COVID.

We have over 50 rose plants and some other plants ready to take to Corryong for the Bush Fire Victims that are starting to get their gardens going again.

One of our members was asked to help cater for a private dance, and organise the kitchen, with the money raised to go to the CWA Flood Relief, so together with the money from hot cross buns, we’ve given $1000 to the State Appeal.

Bev Frohling and Margaret Hasler both attended State Conference, so they gave a short report on this. Sadly, Bega received record rains that week, so it was extremely difficult to see all the exhibits which was very disappointing, as they are well worth seeing. However, the Conference was also on zoom for those of us at home, and replays are now available.

We have been asked to do something in our towns next year to honour 100 years of CWA, so we are open to suggestions from the everyone.

Our Next Meeting will be in Henty on 9th June at the B&B, starting at 10.30am.
