January 1894

Harvesting is in full swing now. We had nearly 2 ½ inches of rain between Christmas and New Year which did much damage to the crops. One farmer told me he was getting nearly four bags to the acre before the rain and now he can’t get two off the same crop. Albury Banner and Wodonga Express, 5th January 1894

District News 1901

A pleasant ceremony took place at the Pleasant Hills Public School previous to the “break up”, the occasion being the presentation of an address and set of gold sleeve links to the teacher, Mr H. G. Fizelle. Wagga Express, 17th December 1901

An Australian in Egypt — 1915

Communications received by Mr A. E. Knobel from Trooper Garrett of the Australian Light Horse in Egypt. He explains that his regiment was camped 10 miles out of Cairo. "There are four regiments of Light Horse in our brigade, about 3000 in all. We have a very well laid out camp... the only thing we are deficient of is bathrooms." Henty Observer, 24th Feb 1915

December 1933

Harvesting operations were again held up last week owing to adverse weather. Dr. and Mrs. Jelbart “Rainbow”, Wallandool East, motored to Albury, thence on to Melbourne for a few days. Lockhart Review, 19th December 1933

November 1934

Both classes at the Sunday School are a full attendance every Sunday, making preparations for Christmas. Mr. E. Pumpa, “Grain Farm”, is the purchaser of a new Ford V8 two-ton truck. Weather conditions have been ideal for hay-carting. Lockhart Review, 27th Nov 1934
