On Monday 23rd November 2020, Les Dale and family celebrated 60 years of trading at Dales supermarket. Over 200 people joined them to mark this occasion, including original staff member Bev Frohling. Member for Albury, Justin Clancy, congratulated Les and passed on a message from The Premier, Gladys Berejiklian.
Jason and Narelle cut the ribbon marking the official opening of the new entrance to Dales IGA, featuring automatic glass doors and a new foyer area. A presentation was made to Roy McInnis for 47 years of loyal service, and to the family of the late Kim Poole for 42 years of service.
A Brief History
On 23rd November 1960, Les & Mary Dale opened for business at No. 13 Sladen St, having purchased the grocery, hardware, liquor, and toy departments from Haycroft’s. They set up the first self-service supermarket between Albury and Wagga. In 1965, the business swapped premises with Haycrofts in a single weekend.
Les had previously built the Dales Highway store in 1953, meaning he has been working for over 67 years. Thank you to our loyal customers for your patronage over the past decades.
