In July 1864, during an exciting pursuit of the bushranger Morgan, he was seen galloping away from a hut on Edgehill’s station. Later that day, he was lost sight of at another hut on Wallandool station.
In March 1865, a shepherd named John Dickson Pender was shot in the groin by Morgan at Wallandool. Morgan believed Pender was a detective. Morgan later applied flour to the wound to stop the bleeding and remained in the hut for some time. James Corcoran was later apprehended and charged with aiding Morgan, though witnesses supported an alibi for him.
Morgan himself was shot dead in April 1865.
