MAMMOTH CASKET DRAWING — June 20, 1939
Mammoth Golden Casket No. 22 was drawn tonight. First prize of £30,000 went to the “Never Despair” syndicate, care of Mrs C. J. Brown, Waverly, Pleasant Hills. The winners were Mrs C. Browne and her two sons, Wallace and James. It was the first lottery ticket that Mrs Browne, aged 60, had ever bought.
A LITTLE BOY’S PLUCK — January 24, 1912
Mr W Rice, of Pleasant Hills, is moving about again after being thrown from his buggy. The horse went off at a rapid pace, but his son Jack stooped down, caught the rein on the step, and pulled the horse up. He then drove back to pick up his father.
