Pleasant Hills CWA had some very exciting news – we had put in entries for a couple of yearly State Awards, and actually won both of them! The awards were The Past State President’s Award for service to the community and the Daily Advertiser Publicity Award.
Last year, we did have a very busy year, with much fund raising. Some of the things we helped with were:
- Purchasing a defibrillator for the Pleasant Hills Community (with a grant from Bendigo Bank).
- A sizeable donation to the CWA Disaster Fund and Hilltop Carer’s Accommodation in Albury.
- Donations to the Royal Flying Doctor and State Medical Projects.
Pamper Packs for Rural Women
Our biggest project was the Pamper Packs for rural women in drought-affected areas of NSW. We ended up making around 680 Pamper packs, which were delivered all over NSW. After purchasing "niceties” for the packs, we still had $6,800 left over, which was sent to CWA Branches in the many areas we had sent packs to.
We have been thrilled at gaining two new members, Coralyn & Kay. We are hoping to be able to get back to holding our normal meeting in June at the CWA Rooms in Henty on 10th June.
