The first map of the village was drawn up, tabled and registered in 1881. The village was named “Munyabla”, in the Parish of Munyabla, County of Urana and proclaimed 12th November 1882.
Confusion arose over the name given of Schoeneberg i.e. Pleasant Hills. In the NSW Government Gazette of 14th August 1897, the name was changed from Munyabla to Pleasant Hills.
